About Pan
“We didn’t know why we were playing all those games but then we understood how important it was our confidence and concentration. We were very lucky to have found the group when we first arrived in the country.” - a former participant
Pan Intercultural Arts (Pan) works across ethnic, cultural and faith boundaries to encourage understanding, integration and empowerment throughout our diverse society. We are driven by a desire to improve the lives of young people within our communities and to bring the healing power of the arts to those who have suffered trauma or social injustice.
We work with groups of young people who are often not heard in society. Our aim is to give them opportunities to build their self confidence and develop their sense of self worth. We work with people from all cultures and religions to encourage a world where we listen to, understand and respect each other’s lives and experiences, discovering the possibilities of our rich society. We use our workshops to help each young person re-imagine themselves and their aspirations by helping them to overcome the barriers resulting from previous traumatic experiences.
We achieve results through the sustained process of creativity rather than the production and presentation of performances.
We invest in participants over long periods of time so that they can become strong, independent individuals and leave us because they are ready to, not because the project ends.
"I was new in the UK, young and isolated. This was a much needed group for my growth. It was a great social setting and growing my imagination helped me deal with issues in my life." – a former participant
