Weapon of Choice to perform at the Old Bailey
21st January 2014
Exciting times lay ahead for Pan Intercultural Arts in 2014.
As part of our plans to maximise our successful model of using the arts for social change, we are hosting an exciting and unique event on 5th February at one of the country's most prestigious and historical locations – the Old Bailey!
Let me tell you a little bit about it.
The event is essentially about raising our profile and spreading the word about the fantastic work we do in local communities. What better way to do this than by giving our young artists the opportunity to perform an extract of their work in one of the court rooms at the Central Criminal Court.
The group in question is called “Weapon of Choice” which is part of our Arts against Violence strand of work. You can read more about that here. More specifically, Weapon of Choice is a dynamic and inspiring collective of young artists, aged 15-26, who devise hard hitting, interactive performances and workshops to effect change in local communities in London. They challenge their peers to avoid decisions in their lives, which lead to criminality and violence by involving them in the performance.
There will also be some drinks and nibbles alongside a presentation by our wonderful Artistic Director John Martin, who will share a bit more info about the important life changing work that Pan does.
Sound interesting..? Keep reading the blog to find out how it went. Updates coming soon, stay tuned.
