Pan's Christmas Art Auction
6th December 2015
This was a first for Pan. A donation of fine artworks enabled us to host a wonderful evening at Pushkin House in London’s Bloomsbury. We had never organised an auction and were uncertain about how to make it work, but unceasing work from Pan staff, thorough background preparation from John Wallace, the chair of our Development Committee and advice from our “star” guest auctioneer, Adrian Bidell, gave us a winning formula.
Hosted by our super-cool patron, Reeta Chakrabarti, with a video contribution from another “media-patron”, Jon Snow, and atmosphere-creating live piano from Radio 4’s Colin Sell, our wonderful audience of supporters and friends raised their “auction paddles” to bid and outbid each other to claim the ten artworks on offer. Together with our auctioneer’s enthusiastic pleading to buy raffle tickets and bid directly to support our activities (“so much easier; no painting to take home, no insurance to worry about”), we raised a hugely useful £8,000.
This will go directly to fund Pan’s activities with marginalised groups. In this time of reduced public funding and huge competition for existing funds, we need the help of generous individuals, corporate sponsors and others who were not on our normal list of funders.
This auction shows it can be done. A Massive Thank You to all our friends who supported us.
But wait! It is not over. Another twenty pieces are now for sale online and you can claim a great piece of art while helping Pan develop its work. Just click on
