Inside Pan
Beyond Pan

A.D. BLOG –
PAN AT WORK
PAN IN THE WORLD
(and respect to Ian Drury)

There are so many things that make the work at Pan worthwhile and the obstacles bearable, but three came together on one day last week. They all remind us of why we do this amazing work.

There are so many things that make the work at Pan worthwhile and the obstacles bearable, but three came together on one day last week. They all remind us of why we do this amazing work.

First Thing: we received a grant to allow our work against youth crime to continue and start a new area of work with those likely to offend in 10 week residencies – not a huge grant but it will pilot our new ideas. That grant took a lot of preparation. Cue jubilation in the office!

Second Thing: as we sat in a Development Committee meeting a text message from one of our artists informed us that our “Future” group for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers has exceeded its participant target numbers. More jubilation.

Third Thing: we receive an email about one of our young adult refugees who had said “I have missed Pan so much. One week that I didn’t attend seems like Eternity. There is nowhere I would rather be than in Pan. I cannot wait to go this week” An emotional silence!

This is why we do what we do and love what we do.

This is why we should be doing it for more people in more centres.

That is our exPANsion plan.
